Cognitive Development Cluster 2

Cluster 2 Definitions 
Stop and Ponder-
Cognitive Development- changes in thinking reading and decision making
Critical periods- if learning doesn't happen during this period, it never will
Discontinuity- learning occurs through a series of predetermined steps
Continuity- change developmentally that occurs over time smoothly (child's vocabulary)
Nature- some  ideas are inborn
Nurture- belief that the mind is a blank slate a birth with experience determining our knowledge
Early experiences- child has fully developed their identity by the age of 5

Later experience
School, Peers, Culture are all examples supporting later experiences
Children begin to develop based on their environment and surroundings. Development occurs in later years.
